Zenly Alternatives That Actually Work in 2026
Zenly closed on 3 February 2023 when Snap shut it down, and its fans have been looking for a replacement ever since. Here's what's closest in 2026, and what's better for nights out.
What made Zenly special
Zenly wasn't just location sharing; it was fun location sharing, showing where your friends were and what they were up to. Most replacements only do the dot on the map.
The best Zenly alternatives
1. Snap Map (Snapchat)
See friends who share their location on a map inside Snapchat, plus public Stories from around you.
- Platforms
- iPhone, Android
- Price
- Free
- Best for
- Friend groups who already live in Snapchat.
- Watch out
- Location only, and not always real time; nothing about nights out, beers or recaps.
Snap owned Zenly, and Snap Map is where its ideas went. If your friends are on Snapchat, it's the natural replacement.
2. Find My (Apple)
Apple's built-in location sharing: share where you are with chosen friends or family, indefinitely or for an hour.
- Platforms
- iPhone (built in)
- Price
- Free
- Best for
- Simple, private location sharing with a few close people.
- Watch out
- No social feed, no venues, nothing beyond a dot on a map.
3. Google Maps location sharing
Share your real-time location with chosen contacts from Google Maps, on iPhone or Android, and save lists of pubs to visit.
- Platforms
- iPhone, Android
- Price
- Free
- Best for
- Mixed iPhone/Android groups, and for saving lists of places.
- Watch out
- Not social; you have to set sharing up per person.
4. ontap
Log a beer in one tap from a home or lock screen widget, with the bar you're at. See which friends are out on a shared map, race your friends in squads, earn 30+ badges and become Mayor of your local. Every month you get Last Call, a recap worth sharing.
- Platforms
- iPhone · App Store
- Price
- Free (an optional ontap Pro is coming)
- Best for
- Groups of friends who go out together and want logging to take one tap.
- Watch out
- No beer-by-beer ratings or tasting notes, and no Android app yet.
ontap brings back the fun part of Zenly for nights out: friends show up on a shared map when they log a beer, you can see who's out right now, and there's a monthly recap of everyone's nights. No 24/7 tracking: you're on the map when you're out.
ontap is the free iPhone app for logging beers in one tap and seeing which friends are out.
